2008 Debut
Clayton is an agile midfielder, who played his junior football for Warrack Eagles, before moving on to North Ballarat at Under 18 level.
His 2007 season with North Ballarat was outstanding and he was rewarded with selection to represent Vic Country in the National Championships. Clayton’s time trials in the 2007 National Draft Camp suggested that he has great agility, speed and endurance.
The young midfielder played five games in his debut season of 2008, illustrating his exceptionally quick skills and his ability to play in defence or up forward. Following his debutant season, Hinkley played 7 games during the 2009 season, averaging 5 kicks and 6 handballs per game.
During season 2010, Clayton struggled to string games together, after having an injury interrupted year. He only played one game in the round 21 loss against Hawthorn in Tasmania, however he will look to get more senior opportunities in season 2011.
A quality midfielder with incredible speed, Clayton looks set to become a very talented footballer at the elite level.
