A triple premiership player and All Australian by the age of 24, Luke Power is the complete player. Originally from Balwyn, Luke is a born leader with skill and courage and was destined to be a star from an early age. Drafted with Brisbane's first selection in the 1997 National Draft (number five overall), he was nominated for the AFL Rising Star award in 1998 and 1999. Luke is an honourable character on and off the field and his consistent form and strong leadership has been rewarded with a promotion, resulting in him becoming a co-captain of the club.

Initially Luke played as a small forward, kicking 52 goals in 2000, before gradually breaking into one of the best midfielders of all time. The ‘fab five included Power alongside Michael Voss, Nigel Lappin, Jason Akermanis and Simon Black – and the group played a vital role in the Lions' triple premiership success of 2001-03.

Following his success, Luke finished second in Brisbane's Best and Fairest Award in 2003 and 2004 and was rewarded with All-Australian selection in 2004.

One just needs to look at his 2005 statistics to understand how valuable Luke is to the Brisbane Lions. He finished 10th in the Brownlow and 5th in the clubs' Best & Fairest. His consistent form continued into 2006 in which he was a standout performer once again with more than 500 disposals for the year and finished third in the Lions' Best & Fairest.

Season 2007 saw Luke take his games tally to near the 200 mark which is a fantastic effort by the age of 28. He was once again in the Lions top 5 Best & Fairest, finishing 4th and averaged over 20 possessions for yet another year.

Luke played his 200th game in Round 5 of 2008 and represented his State for the first time after being selected in Victoria’s team for the AFL Hall of Fame Tribute Match. Lion-hearted Power continued his remarkably consistent run in the Club's Best and Fairest award by finishing third in the 2008 Merrett-Murray Medal vote count. The popular midfielder also edged out crowd favourite Simon Black to receive his first Members Player of the Year Award as voted on by Lions fans.

2009 proved yet another year of consistency for Power who had achieved an almost unrivalled period of sustained individual excellence. The ever consistent and reliable midfielder maintained his status among the AFL's elite in after playing all 24 senior matches and averaging a club high 25.6 disposals throughout the season. The Lions' most prolific ball-winner for the season collected 30 touches or more on seven occasions but also led the team in total tackles with 121. He further stamped himself as one of the competition's best 'big-game' players when he won the Lions' Best Finals Player award for the second time of his career. Power was voted as the team's best player throughout the 2009 Finals campaign by the Match Committee and was one of only few contributors in the side's Semi-Final loss to the Bulldogs at the MCG. His incredible performance on Club Champion night continued when he finished fourth in the Merrett-Murray Medal voting - the seventh consecutive time that he had finished among the team's top five.
