Originally from Bunbury, Jamie played the last half of the 2008 season with the Swan Districts and  caught the eye of recruiters with a sub 3-second 20 metre sprint at the WA State Screening. Bennell is a quick and agile small who displays clean hands and uses the ball well running off half-back.

Bennell was blessed with the opportunity to debut during round 1 of the 2009 season and ended up playing 16 games throughout the year.

With pace and skill Jamie will add dash and excitement to the Demons line-up for years to come.
