Jarred’s great football ability was noticeable as early as his junior years with Langwarrin where he won 5 junior premierships. Jarred is a solid midfielder who is hard at the ball and shows great courage. Jarred had an outstanding U18 Championship playing for Vic Metro particularly against South Australia where he was voted best on ground. Moore capped off a great year winning U18 All-Australian selection and the Best & Fairest at the Dandenong stingrays (TAC Cup). His terrific performances at U18 level were rewarded by the Swans in the 2004 NAB AFL National Draft where they used their second pick to secure him at the draft.
Moore debuted in the Swans premiership year of 2005 playing 5 games and was listed as an emergency 11 times including the Grand final, in a year where breaking into the side’s midfield would have been extremely difficult. His outstanding senior debut year was capped off with a stellar performance in the Swans Reserves Grand Final victory where he picked up 22 touches and four goals.
After missing a large number of senior games in seasons 2006 and 2007 due to injury, Jarred’s selection into the Swans leadership group in 2009 proves that even whilst not playing much footy, he still portrays the leadership qualities to step up into the role. Jarred’s selection was well deserved after he earned a regular position in the Swans line up in 2008, noted as his best season yet.
The Swans will be looking to mould this young man into a brilliant midfielder as he reads the ball well and has clean skills.
