Originally from Warracknabeal, Matt is a tall hard running midfielder who is shaping up to have a bright future with the Eagles. Matt was rewarded in 2005 for his hard work by being named for his first senior selection and played a further two games for that year.
In 2006, Matt broke his way into the talented Eagles midfield to play 14 senior games and take part in two finals, however was unlucky to miss out on a Grand Final appearance. Matt’s consistent performance during the season was rewarded in round 10 with a NAB AFL Rising Star Nomination.
2007 was an excellent season for Matt as he missed just two games and was the third highest possession winner at the club. Matt averaged 21 possessions per game and was the Eagles' form player of the finals series.
After a standout 2007 season, the youngster was a victim of injury during 2008, developing shin splints and despite attempts to play through the pain, was unable to take the field after round 10.
In 2009, Matt had an outstanding season playing every game and took on a lot of extra responsibility with leadership. Rosa relished the extra game time and responsibility that he was given and did everything he could to help younger guys.
