Richmond

2006 NAB AFL Rookie Draft Pick No. 24
2007 AFL Debut
2007 Richmond FC Best First Year Player

Jake came through the Northern Knights program in the TAC Cup, but his exposure was restricted to just three games because of stress fractures to his back. Jake then made his way to Coburg City Oval in 2006 to play for the Coburg Tigers after being North Heidelberg’s best player in its 2005 premiership.

In 2006, King had a fantastic season with Coburg in the VFL, playing as a 'hard at it' defender and was rewarded with an equal first in Coburg’s Best & Fairest.

Jake made his AFL debut in Round 4, 2007 against the Bulldogs and played every game for the remainder of the season, picking up a high number of possessions for the Tigers.

Jake had a frustrating 2008 due to injuring his hamstring three times and then upon his return, he tore all the ligaments and the muscles in his ankle. After a solid pre-season, Jake managed 7 games during the 2009 season, including the final three games of the home-and-away season, proving he was focussed on establishing his worth for a regular spot during 2010.

Jake is another one of Richmond’s younger players who looks set play to a pivotal role in the clubs future success, whether it be playing on the opposition’s best small forward or providing dash and spark through the midfield.
