Originally from Alice Springs, Matt moved to North Adelaide for two seasons in the SANFL before being picked up in the NAB AFL rookie draft by the Kangaroos.

His slick skills and ability to kick goals saw him elevated to the senior list in 2007, prior to the start of the AFL season. His performances in 2007 were highlighted by his form in front of goals and immediately became a fan favourite after his debutant game with his blistering speed and ability to crumb goals.

The lightning quick forward, nicknamed 'Flash', played a key role in the club’s 2008 campaign and formed a lethal combination with fellow goal sneak Lindsay Thomas.

Many tipped Campbell to play a more significant role through the midfield in 2009, but a hamstring injury ended those plans temporarily. He made a return in round seven and played a starring role in the last gasp win against Port Adelaide with three goals, but persistent hamstring troubles saw him miss much of the middle part of the season.

The number 33 has earned a reputation as being one of the most dangerous small forwards in the league and is undoubtedly becoming a Kangaroos crowd favourite.
