2008 AFL Debut
Todd is a tall athletic ruckman with excellent ground level skills who originally played elite basketball and was recruited by the Kangaroos in the 2006 NAB AFL Draft with their third round selection, 37 overall. He began playing football with the Oakleigh Chargers late in season 2006.
Goldstein’s ruckwork is rated highly and he possesses good skills for a tall player. He has also proven that he can go forward and kick goals. Todd played for Kangaroos affiliate, Tasmania in the VFL in 2007 and had a solid season as he continued his development and improved his strength and endurance.
The big man made his debut in Round 15 of the 2008 season and had an immediate impact, racking up 13 hit-outs in first appearance and booting two goals in North Melbourne's last gasp win against Collingwood the following week.
Goldstein showed plenty of skill in the second half of the 2009 season to suggest he'd be at the club for many years to come. He played the last seven games of the season and a total of 13 for the year as a backup to Hamish McIntosh.
At 201cm and 105kg, Goldstein casts an imposing figure for the Kangaroos and his athleticism makes him a difficult match-up for opposition teams.
